the story that is me
yes it's true my name is mouthful but there are only a few of us so I bare it proudly
I took my first breath in a small town in the south of the netherlands. at the age of 7 we moved to Dubai and then at 10 to cyprus. completing a circle I graduated from high school in the netherlands again.
After that I lived in austria for a bit, went to london to study African studies at the school of Oriental and African studies (SOAS) at the university of london. after which I moved back to the Netherlands. never having intended to stay here, I was forever plagued with things getting in the way of me moving away again.
in 2006 I quit my job, threw a going away and moving to barcelona party and hooked up with my girlfriend. Suddenly barcelona just didn't seem to be the place I wanted to be. two years later I live in Haarlem and happy to be doing so, settling down, about to get a dog and working behind my little laptop. The only travel plan I have is that of the vacation kind.
So all of this means what?
It means that I am Dutch but English is my first language.
it means I've got a strange accent. A little bit american, a little bit English and after a night in the pub a bit canadian
it means that sometimes i can come across as not very dutch, a bit global. all this changes when the dutch play football. I become fiercely orange.
it means that I easily adapt in different cultures and way of doing things. and can be Mediterranean in my approach to life. which I think is a good thing. I think they enjoy life more.

random facts of me
i'm very chaotic. and am forever looking for that perfect organization system for everything (my planner, music, books etc.) i am a hopeless daydreamer and can spend hours day dreaming about things that probably could never happen anyway. i love to cook. i really get tired of hitting the shift button while typing for capitalizing the i or the beginning of a sentence, i've stopped doing it on my blog and here. i can't hide my emotions very well. i tap dance. i love most animals. i love to read decoration magazines. and watch them on tv as well. i can be very focused. and at times easily distracted. my music choices changes with my mood. i can get very angry. i can have a loud laugh. i drive a citroen c3 xt-r. we call it the little monster. i growl daily at IE (grrrrr).
